Earth, Wind & Stache

I'm sorry if that funk jam just hit you smack in the face!

Wait, no I'm not!
It's foreshadowing fool... read a book.

Soul.
Funk.
Disco.
Boogie.
Mustaches.
...synonyms?

This is my homage to none other than god's gift of March in San Diego for the past 5 years... yes people... tis the season for

"Resting just above the upper lip, the mustache is a beacon to all mankind that there is hope for this world and a bright future for all who have been gifted with this treasure from God himself."
The Urban Dictionary

In recent years, I do concur that this style of facial hair, commonly referred to as a 70's porn accessory, has become quite the status symbol among hipsters, but this shit has been going strong for 5 years now. And that's saying something! What exactly? Well, that these crazy kooks, I have come to love, have been celebrating le stache since it was merely a distant fury feature on the faces of disco gods and pictures of your dad from the 80's. When only the brave were sporting these lip warmers with pride, since at any moment a creeper alert may sound if swung in the wrong direction.

For your boldness and righteous excuse to party after letting your face go wild for a month, I applaud you OGs of The Mustache Bash... you know who you are. I myself have been to the last 3 of the 4, and thank god because I don't want to live in a world without this glorious event.

But today, as I mentioned before, mustaches are sported with pride. And you know what... I dig it. It's wonderful. As a girl, it means for a couple weeks out the year, my boyfriend ceases stabbing me with a 5 o'clock shadow, and instead I get to reap the benefits of this frisky facial ornament. And for the dude's sake, it's their chance to mix it up, hide behind the mysteriousness of something new added to their face, just like girls do when they apply their face every morning.

I also think they are pretty hot...
case & point.

So.... Happy Stache Bashing friends...I'll be there in spirit. Can't wait to see the threads that come out this year, last year was like an all-star reunion of Soul Train. I know all of you won't disappoint. Here is a playlist I dedicate to you San Diegans from my the depths of my inner dancing queen.

This mix is filled with some funky jams, that have definitely helped us get down in stache bash passed, the likes of Kool & the Gang, Rick James, Taste of Honey, Bee Gees, Roonie Hudson, The Gap Band, K.C. & the Sunshine Band, The Miracles, Earth Wind & Fire and Sister Sledge to name a few.
